Butch Cassidy’s Hole-in-the-Wall Ride | Testimonials
“Belated congratulations on selling out the Hole-in-the-Wall Ride this year. An outstanding accomplishment for you (and Marcie) and a tribute to the high quality of your events. No one does it like you do, my friend. That is one of the reasons why I enjoy riding with you … you are the best, and I love it. See ya in Tombstone!

“Having ridden several times with Steve & Marcie, I can honestly say that each ride is better than the last! The adventure continues to be incredible, with more excitement right around the next bend in the canyon. If you want to be transported back to the real old west, this is the way to go.”
Bill Hill, Prescott, AZ
“The home cooking was incredible. The food was plentiful and was “stick to yer ribs” kind of food! The wranglers were friendly and always ready to lend a hand if need be. Our mounts were hardy and NOT at all barn sour. These guys could get up and move if you wanted them to! I can’t say enough about it except that you should book a trip and have the experience of a lifetime! I am a repeat customer and can say that I will be riding with Great American Adventures again! Thanks Steve & Marcie!”

“A great adventure with scenic overkill and an immersion in western history. The ride was challenging from the perspective of my wife and I as senior citizens participating in our first ever trail ride. Having said that, we will eagerly return to do this ride again. The food was excellent and the horses very well trained. Steve and Marcie of Great American Adventures sponsor such quality trips that we have committed to two upcoming adventures, including another horseback riding trip.”

“This was one of the most challenging (and therefore must fun) horseback rides I’ve ever participated in. Beautiful scenery, fun, interesting, outgoing people, and good, steady trail horses made for an excellent adventure in an old-west atmosphere. Breathtaking scenery–camping under the stars, and real cattle drives that’ll make you feel like you’re in a John Wayne picture. Steve and Marcie were great hosts, making sure we were all happy, well fed, and got in plenty of riding. Thumbs waaaay up for this trip!”

“The adventure package Steve Shaw set up for the 2012 Butch Cassidy’s Rustler’s Rendezvous at Hole-in-the-Wall had everything you’d want. You could ride at any level you felt like, hike forever, and the scenery was breath-taking. I recommend this ride to anyone seeking a hassle free adventure.”
Richard Wismer, Mt. Baldy, CA
“What can I say about this trip? Super, Fabulous, Awesome, Fun, Wonderful! Home style cookin’-Fabulous, my horse-Very Fun, cattle drive – SO MUCH Fun! Scenery- Spectacular! One of the best parts of this trip is NOT needing a rental car, because you were picked up and dropped off at the airport. Steve & Marcie know how to make sure everyone has a good time. I am a repeat customer, having been on last year’s Canyon de Chelly Ride.”

“We just returned from the 2011 Butch Cassidy’s Hole-in-the-Wall Ride” adventure, and what an adventure it was for me to get there!
Two months before the ride, I suffered a medical event that cast a giant shadow over attending this year’s ride. While still in the emergency room, I told my wife and medical team that I didn’t want – and would not miss the Hole-in-the-Wall Ride. Having had such a fantastic experience on Steve’s previous rides and knowing how much Steve and Marcie put of themselves into their Cowboy Safari adventures, I didn’t want to miss it.
Seeing the magnificent beauty of Hole-in-the-Wall country, which I believe can only be truly appreciated from the back of a great horse, was my motivation to go again this year. That coupled with a fun group of great riding partners, excellent meals, ranch experiences we immensely enjoyed, and the rich cowboy history of the area (not to mention Steve and Marcie Shaw attending to all the myriad of details) makes this an adventure we’ll do again and again.
Steve and Marcie … thanks again for taking such good care of us, it was a blast!”

“The 2011 Hole-in-the-Wall Ride was outstanding! Plenty of horseback riding, beautiful scenery, and loads of accurate historical information. The ride through Buffalo Creek Canyon was exceptional, and unlike anything else of this type I’ve experienced… very beautiful and personally enriching. Participating in the round-up and branding (an extra not on the itinerary) was an informative and exciting experience, and simply added to an already wonderful trip. Did I mention the food? It was excellent from the first meal to the last, always different, always tasty and plenty of it. The cookout was superb… never tasted a better steak in my life! I’ve been with Great American Adventures for six trips, each one unique, and they keep getting better and better.
I don’t know how you do what you do in setting up these events. I just know that you are the best at what you do. Hell, anyone can set up a cattle drive, like at Hole-in-the-Wall… but to get involved in the drive and the roundup? Mixing it up with real calves/cattle, all those folks, branding, etc.? For me, that was a bit of Heaven on Earth, and you (and the weather, too, I suppose) made it available to me. As I’ve said before, a lifetime of memories in just one week! And you do it consistently, and in different venues.”
John Rankin, “Ben Craig,” Eaton Rapids, MI
“This is the ride to truly learn and feel the history of the western outlaws as they came to the end of their era. The wide open spaces of Wyoming, the massive “Wall” that runs for miles, Indian “pictographs” on cliffs, stone tent rings all over the prairie, wagon ruts, and so much more leave you in awe of the territory and the people that inhabited it. Great ride, Steve… hope to do another some day.”
Alan Moore, Lake City, CO
“Steve, you do a great job, so don’t stop! Your trips are the absolute best – I just wish I could go on all of them every time they are offered.
I always look forward to seeing you, Johnnie, Rich, and Gary and their respective spouses/others. I usually enjoy the company of the others who come along (I suspect because you’re able to weed out those that don’t fit), but there are a few that I really look forward to seeing, and each time I meet someone new to add to the short list.
I’ve been on many historical tours (I’m a fanatic!). Though these trips are all good, none of them are anywhere near as much fun as your trips. For an example, on other trips there is usually friendly discussions, but a remarkable lack of camaraderie, which for me is one of the reasons your trips are so much fun to go on – great camaraderie! So, my conclusion is, don’t change what you’re doing… it works!”
